King James outduels Black Mamba in Cavs Christmas Day Win
If this was a preview of the NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant and friends better get ready to do some work in June. LeBron James scored 26 points while Mo Williams added 28 as the Cavaliers pounded Black Mamba and the Lakers 102-87 on Christmas afternoon in the marquee matchup of the day.
The Cavs played physical and dominated the entire game as the Lakers, who came into the day winning 16 of their last 17 games; struggled to get any rhythm going . Kobe managed to score 35 points but only shot 11 of 32 from the field while the team shot only 36.5% overall.
Late in the 4th quarter after another foul was called against a clearly vexed Derek Fisher, fans in the lower section started throwing their yellow foam fingers onto the court in frustration; a couple of water bottles also made their way onto the court flying from the stands.
This game was a nice statement win for the Cavs who have spent the majority of the season in the shadows of fellow contenders Boston, Orlando and Los Angeles.
Among the other Christmas day action in the NBA, D-Wade led the Heat to a 93-87 win over the Knicks, the Celtics topped the Magic 86-77, the Suns raced past the Clippers 124-93 while Brandon Roy carried the Blazers to a 107-96 win over the Nuggets to finish the night.
