Cardinals Win Shootout in the Desert
The Arizona Cardinals love to keep us guessing until the end. Seemingly on cruise control to an easy victory over the Green Bay Packers; they let Aaron Rodgers and company push it to overtime when they gave up 35 points in the 2nd half.
However in OT, the Cardinals ended the game on Aaron Rodgers’ fumble that was recovered by Karlos Dansby who returned it 17 yards for the winning touchdown to lift themselves to a 51-45 victory over the Packers.
Quarterbacks Kurt Warner and Aaron Rodgers went back and forth all day long in the NFL’s highest scoring playoff game of all time.
In his first playoff start, Aaron Rodgers threw for a Packers post-season record 422 yards and 4 touchdown passes; all 4 of them in the 2nd half to rally the Packers from a 31-10 deficit.
Kurt Warner; who improved his playoff record to 9-3, threw for 379 yards and 5 touchdown passes; including 2 to Larry Fitzgerald.
Karlos Dansby had a monster game for the Cardinals defense as he started and ended the game with big plays. He broke up Rodgers’ opening pass which led to a Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie interception. On the next Packer possession, Dansby stripped Donald Driver and Arizona’s Alan Branch recovered.
The last playoff game to end on a defensive touchdown also involved Green Bay; back in 2004, when Al Harris ran a Pick-6 back 52 yards in their 33-27 overtime win over the Seahawks.
The Arizona Cardinals travel to New Orleans next Saturday to take on the Saints. Should we set the over/under at 100?
