Colts Close Door On Jets’ Cinderella Season

Submitted by on January 25, 2010 – 2:20 amNo Comment

The Indianapolis Colts are headed back to the Super Bowl for the second time in four seasons after rallying from an 11 point deficit in the first half to beat the New York Jets 30-17 Sunday afternoon.

Peyton Manning threw for 377 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Colts offense which had big plays all day from receivers Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie; who had 11 catches for 153 yards and 7 catches for 123 yards respectively.

Mark Sanchez and the Jets seemed to have control of the game early on before the flood gates opened for the Colts.  Sanchez connected with Braylon Edwards on an 80 yard touchdown pass in the 2nd quarter, which was the longest score in Jets playoff history.

Jim Caldwell became only the fifth rookie coach to reach the Super Bowl and will try to become the third to win it.

The Colts will be returning to Miami where they have played all 4 of their Super Bowl appearances at and where they won it twice. They will be taking on the New Orleans Saints in 2 weeks in Super Bowl XLIV.
