Vikings Abruptly Cancel Cowboys’ February Plans
The immortal Brett Favre is now only 1 game away from returning to the Super Bowl after leading the Minnesota Vikings to a 34-3 demolition of the Dallas Cowboys Sunday.
Favre passed for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns while the Minnesota defense was all up in Tony Romo’s grill the whole day sacking him 6 times, forcing 3 fumbles and an interception.
Sidney Rice had a monster game for the Vikes with 6 catches for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rice had long touchdown grabs of 47 and 45 yards while the Cowboys defense had no answers for him. He became the first player in Vikings’ history with three TD receptions in a playoff game; something former Viking greats Cris Carter and Randy Moss never accomplished.
This game was the Vikings’ second-largest margin of victory in a playoff game, while the Cowboys suffered their second-worst defeat in a playoff game.
For all the celebrating the Cowboys did last week after winning their first playoff game in 13 years, they now have another monkey to get off their backs; Dallas hasn’t won a playoff game on the road since the 1992 NFC Championship Game in San Francisco against the 49ers.
As for the Vikings, they travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints next Sunday in their first appearance in the NFC Championship Game since the 2000 season.
