Mavericks Give Lakers the Business in Big D
Jigga Man once said “Show me what you got baby.” and that the Dallas Mavericks did Wednesday night as they beat the Los Angeles Lakers 101-96 with Jay-Z sitting courtside with wife Beyonce after performing the night before at the American Airlines Center.
It was a nice statement win for the new-look Mavs as they aim to move up to the 2nd or 3rd seed in the Western Conference standings to set up a potential matchup with the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 31 points to lead the way while Jason Terry dropped 30 off the bench as the Mavs took advantage of a fatigued Kobe Bryant and forced him into a cold night; shooting only 9 of 23 from the field.
Shawn Marion and DeShawn Stevenson took turns all night guarding Black Mamba with relative success as Kobe couldn’t seem to get into a rhythm for most of the game.
After hitting the game-winning 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds left to beat Memphis on Tuesday night, Bryant missed a 3-pointer that could have tied it with 25 seconds left.
Jason Kidd had 14 points, 13 dimes and 7 rebounds for the Mavericks, who improved to 5-1 since their trade with the Wizards. Brendan Haywood chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Big confidence-boosting win for the Mavs but they still have work to do to catch the Nuggets and Jazz in the standings. Time for them to move on to the next one.

Mavs are looking gooood. And the lakers just don’t care right now. If they stumble into the playoffs with that attitude, even the blazers or spurs could take them down. This would be an epic series in the Western finals between the mavs and lakers.
