Shipping Up to Boston: Magic’s A-Game Reappears & Forces Game 6
The Orlando Magic want to take another swing at the Celtics in Boston before they call it a season.
They’ll have the chance to do that as Dwight Howard had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Magic to a 113-92 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.
A series that looked all but over a few days ago now has the Celts’ commanding series lead trimmed to 3-2 with all the pressure turned on them to close out the series .
Boston is facing the possibility of playing Game 6 without Kendrick Perkins after their starting center picked up his seventh technical foul of the playoffs, a mandatory suspension unless it is overturned.
No NBA team has won a series after going down 3-0.
The Magic, seemingly dead in the water after getting worked in Game 3, suddenly have hope to be the first. They made their resurgence by executing one of their signature strengths, making 13-of-25 from 3-point range.
Jameer Nelson scored 24 points, and J.J. Redick had 14 to lead the Magic to a fast pace game that the Celtics couldn’t keep up with. Howard added five blocks as Orlando built an early 14-point lead that was never seriously challenged.
Game 6 will be Friday night in Boston.
