He Still Got Game: Ray Allen’s 3’s Key to Boston’s Game 2 Win
On Sunday night, the Boston Celtics showed the Los Angeles Lakers that they too; have their own explosive backcourt which was on display in the bright lights of the Staples Center.
Ray Allen AKA Jesus Shuttlesworth; scored 27 of his 32 points in the first half and finished with an NBA Finals record 8 three-pointers while Rajon Rondo completed his fifth playoff triple-double down the stretch with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Celtics’ late charge for a 103-94 win.
Boston went on a 16-4 run to end the game.
The series is now all tied up at 1-1.
Kobe Bryant scored 21 points as he spent all night battling uncharacteristic foul trouble as the Lakers couldn’t contain Boston’s backcourt as they suffered their first home playoff loss since last year’s Western Conference Finals. The Lakers’ front court of Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum combined for 46 points, 14 rebounds and 13 blocks. The Lakers’ 14 blocks as a team set an NBA Finals record.
Game 3 will be Tuesday in Boston as the Celtics can take advantage of having the next 3 games at home.
