Meet Richard Genick, an experienced headwear collector and manager of HAT CLUB Arizona Mills.
Where did your love for hats come from?
Growing up I looked up to a few professional skateboarders like Chad Muska, Eric Koston, Jamie Thomas, and Jason Dill so naturally I bought the product that they were wearing. Since then, I’ve maintained a pretty decent hat collection.
What does HAT CLUB mean to you?
To me, HAT CLUB is a community of individuals that take pride on what they like and don’t settle for anything less. HAT CLUB is that “idol” that other (retail stores) look up too.
What is your favorite HAT CLUB hat?
It’s too hard to narrow it down to one but I’d say my top five are HUF, Black Scale, Undefeated, Stussy, and the San Diego Padres.
What influences your decision on buying a new hat?
Well for fitted hats it has to be American polyester or I wont buy. It sounds complicated but every employee knows the struggle when buying a hat. It has to fit and look a certain way in my opinion.
Do you usually wear fitted, strapback, Snapback?
I’m pretty open to anything, I own at least one strap. 90% of my hats are fitted but I do own some snapbacks.
What HC store do you manage and what makes your store so unique?
I manage HAT CLUB Arizona Mills. We definitely have a prime location being so close to the airport and ballparks. We have the biggest store in the company to my knowledge, so we have a great selection from fitted hats to accessories like socks. Also I have to give a shout out to my staff because they are the reason as to why AZ mills continues to be successful.
Anything else to say about hats?
Stay crowned ladies and gents.
