Mitchell & Ness has recently released a Los Angeles Lakers Championship Apparel Pack that includes three snapbacks commemorating the team’s 3Peat title run from 2000-2002.
These snapbacks feature 3 different colorways with each hat having the NBA Finals patch embroidered on the side.
During this period in the early 2000’s, the Lakers were an unstoppable force in the playoffs as the Kobe/Shaq duo was often too much for any other team to handle.
It wasn’t until the 2004 NBA Finals when the Detroit Pistons shocked the world by dominating the star-studded Lakers team that also had Gary Payton and Karl Malone on the roster that year and finishing them off in 5 games to win the NBA Championship.
The aftermath resulted in the Pistons becoming one of the very few teams in recent NBA history that won without having a true “superstar” player leading the way along with the Shaq and Kobe beef finally reaching it’s limits and forcing the breakup of a dynasty.
It’s been over a decade now since this Lakers dynasty prematurely ended on a bad note culminating with Shaquille O’Neal being traded to the Miami Heat.
